Surveillance recorders
If you only want to be able to watch live with your security camera (surveillance), you only need a security camera and a security monitor. But many of our customers also want to be able to save the images. We offer a wide range of surveillance recorders for this. We are happy to help you find the right recorder for your camera system.
Analog, XVR or NVR?
The oldest type of security recorders are those with analog signal. Anyone who already has analog surveillance cameras at home will probably soon choose to purchase an analog recorder. There is of course nothing wrong with that, but keep in mind that analog recorders are very outdated and will eventually disappear completely. An alternative is an XVR recorder.
XVR recorders are also known as 4-in-1 recorders: these recorders have an analog signal as well as AHD, CVI and TVI signal. As a user, you can then choose which signal you want to use, so that you can also use the recorder in combination with newer AHD, CVI or TVI cameras. Conversely, there are also XVR cameras that are compatible with all the aforementioned signals. There are also triple hybrid recorders (3-in1: analog, HD-TVI and IP) and Pentabrid recorders (5-in-1: analog, AHD, TVI, CVI and IP).
Finally, there are the network recorders (NVR). These are known for being very simple to use and easy to set up. Network recorders work, as the name suggests, via your network, so that the images can easily be sent from your camera to the recorder.
Number of channels
There are recorders with 4, 8, 16, 24, 32, 64 and even 128 channels. How many channels you need depends on the number of cameras you want to connect to the recorder. If you only use 4 cameras, you do not need to purchase a 24-channel recorder. Always keep a little leeway so that if you want to expand to more cameras in the future, you don't have to buy a new recorder right away.
Resolution
As with cameras, there is also a wide variety of resolutions for recorders: from a simple 2 megapixel (1080p) recorder to an ultra HD (4k) recorder with up to 12 megapixels. The image quality of recordings on a 4K recorder is of course many times better than a 2M recorder, but for some applications a low resolution is sufficient. With a 2M recorder, for example, you can work fine if you only want to see whether people have walked in the filmed area. Do you want to be able to see clearly who these people are? Then choose 4K. Keep in mind that recorders will not work with cameras with a higher resolution. so you cannot connect an 8M camera to a 4M recorder.
PoE or not?
Some security recorders are equipped with PoE: Power over Ethernet. This means that you only need a single (network) cable for both power and image. This saves time and money. In addition, with PoE you are not dependent on a socket, so you can place the recorder anywhere. A disadvantage of PoE is the limited distance, since UTP cables are up to 100 meters long.
Intelligence
Modern surveillance recorders are equipped with many intelligent functions, such as facial recognition, people counting, audio detection or the creation of a heat map. Include these features in your search for a surveillance recorder to make the recorder meet your requirements even better.
