What is 3 g SDI-HDMI?

3 g SDI was used only at broadcasting stations for HDTV, but manufacturers use this technique also for cctv.
How does 3G SDI-HDMI works?
SDI stands for "series digital interface" and refers to a family of video interface standards by SMPTE.
This is a standard in the broadcasting industry for digital video transmission over coaxial cable.
An example, ITU-R BT. 656 and 259M define digital video interfaces used by SMTPE broadcasting stations.
A related standard, also known as high definition series digital interface (HD-SDI), is a standard SMPTE 292 m, this provides a nominal in data rate of 1,485 Gbit/s. the most common data rate is 270Mbps, while a speed to 540 Mbps is theoretically possible.
Standard used with 75 ohm coaxial cable, this is the same cable used in homes for television reception.
The SDI standard uses 8 or 10 bit data length.
Signals are not compressed and are able to synchronize themselves, between the source (transmitter) and final location (receiver).
Errors caused by noise and interference can be detected.
The lost data is restored by means of a code with the name "Hamming" A signal in SDI can can send up to 4 independent audio signals, along with the video signal.
3g-SDI is able to send digital cinema quality video image, same as 1080p HDTV!
What is the difference between 3G SDI and HDMI?
HDMI cables are mainly used by consumers for example, home entertainment and generally up to a few metres long, While HD-SDI is widely used in professional audio/video broadcasting stations.
HDMI is intended for connecting a media player, such as a monitor and is not as suitable for sending signals from a DVR recording device.
HD-SDI is the best choice to use for cctv recording, because it is durable and reliable, due in part to the lockable BNC connector, which HDMI does not support.
Furthermore; HDMI does transport time code along with the data, while HD-SDI does!
Why is 3G SDI-HDMI useful?
If one want to see even the smallest detail, that is recorded by a security camera and or in extremely sharp quality, then HD-SDI is the solution!
HD-SDI is the first standard that offers sufficient bandwidth, transmission of uncompressed high definition video signals to send.
These include 1080/50i and 1080/60i security camera to the monitor.
The dual link HD-SDI and 3G SDI standard take this technique a step further.
Now also uncompressed transmission signals of 1080/60p and 1080/60p.
All lower SMPTE standards (such as basic SDI), and also MJPEG standards, compress the video signals during the transmission and with compressing data, one loses quality!
This again will be the cause of a bad video image.
With HD-SDI, when a video file is frozen, or paused, the silent picture crystal is clear and in HD quality!
If one will lower the standards (no HD-SDI transmission), used in still image, the resolution will be much lower and the image quality is also less sharp.
Still a very large advantage is that existing businesses that also would like HD cinema quality image, but being forced to use IP security cameras by their installer.
But then people should be aware of the high cost, for example new cabling and expensive software.
